Support Vector Machine for Predicting Student Dropout Under Different Normalization Methods

“This paper uses Support Vector Machines (SVMs) to predict student dropout, comparing 9 data normalization methods (e.g., Min Max Scaler, One Hot Encoder). Results show normalization significantly boosts accuracy, with One Hot Encoder achieving the best average F1 score of 0.779—highlighting the importance of proper data preprocessing in identifying at-risk students.”

Hobbies & More

Staying active is an important part of my life. I enjoy lifting weights, running, and hiking.

I’m a big fan of the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Wizards.

My dog, Bobby, is a big part of my life, and I enjoy spending time playing with him.

Learning new things and applying them in meaningful ways is a passion of mine.

I firmly believe in the value of embracing challenges, learning from mistakes, and using failures as stepping stones for growth. Hard work beats talent when paired with intentional effort and smart strategies.

Above all, I strive to embrace the present moment and take time to reflect on where I am while continuing to move forward.

At the end of the day, the world is yours.
